You just finished a great workout and are ready to give your body that extra boost of energy it needs after a workout. You go to mix your protein and it gets clumped on the bottom and you end up not being able to even drink all the protein you put in your cup. It may just be one of the small inconvenience in life we have to deal with, but do we really have to live with clumping protein? The answer is NO! There are several small tricks you can do that can help you so you are not wasting protein. Let's face it, there really isn't such a thing as cheap protein powder, so making the most of every scoop will help out the people who are looking to save on protein mixes.
Method 1: The Blender- Of course we all wish we could bring our fridge with us to the gym, for some of us who live near the places we work out, the blender is great for mixing protein. Not only do blenders mix the protein evenly, they are also useful in crushing things such as ice or flax seeds that can be added to protein shakes. For most of us though, we don't have the option to use a blender, so lets take a look at some other methods to mix a protein shake.

Method 2: The Premix- Now most of the people in the gym have to bring their protein to the gym, but most of us don't mix our protein until after we work out. One nice trick I have discovered to mix protein is to first put in a layer of oatmeal or some other substance that won't stick to the bottom of your mixer. I personally use a mix of oatmeal and various seeds (for my omega 3's) and place this on the bottom of my mixer. Now some of you might say, "Why would you want to mix oatmeal with a protein shake?" The simple answer is that it provides a good source of fiber, carbs, and protein, not to mention I think it tastes good. The next step is to put your protein powder on top of the premix layer add water and enjoy. This method also works well if you are using creatine powder along with protein powder in your post workout shakes.
Method 3: The lazy- Now if you have enough money or just want to have things fast you can buy the premixed protein shakes, however I personally do not use this method because it is expensive and I like to know what is going in my protein shakes before I drink them.
Finally, one last thing to consider when buying protein is how well it mixes. There are many proteins available one the market and if you shop around you can find the right protein mix for you. I prefer to choose a all natural protein that is free from additives so that I add different flavors/nutrients to my needs. Check out the site below to find bulk all natural protein for cheap!
